ENHANCING HEALTHCARE SERVICE PROVISION AT THE HEALTH FACILITY

PSPF DONATES MATTRESSES AND PAINT TO MPONGWE MISSION HOSPITAL

On September 2, 2024, the Public Service Pensions Fund (PSPF) donated mattresses and paint to Mpongwe Mission Hospital as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. This contribution aimed to enhance healthcare service provision at the health facility.

The donation followed a visit to the hospital by PSPF Chief Executive Officer Mr. Francis Pindani Nyirenda and his team on June 27, 2024. During this visit, Mr. Nyirenda, who met with Hospital Medical Officer in Charge Dr. Henry Silavwe, committed to exploring ways to support the hospital in addressing equipment shortages and improving infrastructure.

During the handover ceremony held at the Hospital, PSPF Board Chairman Mr. John Kasanga expressed the Fund’s pleasure in adopting Mpongwe Mission Hospital as a CSR partner. He highlighted that the hospital, which serves Mpongwe, Ngabwe, Masaiti, and Lufwanyama Districts, caters to over 3,000 PSPF members, both retired and active who deserve access to quality healthcare.

Mr. Kasanga commended the hospital’s management and staff for their dedication under challenging circumstances and expressed confidence that the donation, though modest will significantly improve the environment for both staff and patients.

Her Royal Highness Chieftainess Lesa of the Lamba People of Mpongwe praised PSPF for its timely and generous gesture, describing it as a clear demonstration of goodwill.

Mpongwe District Commissioner Mr. Burton Mukomba emphasized that the donation aligned with President Hakainde Hichilema’s focus on the importance of collaboration and partnerships in serving communities and the nation.

The mattresses and paint were handed over by PSPF Board Chairman Mr. John Kasanga, Chief Executive Mr. Francis Pindani Nyirenda, and Manager Procurement Mr. Nickson Sing’andu to Hospital Manager Miniver Mutesa, who also expressed gratitude for the support.

Hospital Medical Officer in Charge Dr. Henry Silavwe also offered remarks, commending PSPF for their passion and commitment to supporting the institution.
