MPONGWE MISSION HOSPITAL APPEALS FOR SUPPORT
Public Service Pensions Fund (PSPF) Chief Executive Officer Mr. Francis Pindani Nyirenda on Thursday June 27, 2024, paid a courtesy visit to Mpongwe Mission Hospital on the Copperbelt Province as part of the Fund's corporate social responsibility initiatives.
Mpongwe Mission Hospital which operates as a District Hospital and serves a population of over 100,000 is in dire need of infrastructure expansion and equipment.
During the visit, Mr. Nyirenda met with the Hospital Medical Officer In- Charge Dr. Henry Silavwe who highlighted the need for improved infrastructure, including expanded bed space in the maternity wing, setting up of a neonatal unit and essential hospital equipment.
Dr. Silavwe emphasized the importance of supporting the Mpongwe community, particularly with a larger maternity ward, as the hospital records approximately 700 births every quarter.
And speaking after touring the Hospital, Mr. Nyirenda commended the dedication and passion of the medical staff for their commitment to service despite challenging circumstances.
The PSPF CEO assured Dr. Silavwe that PSPF would explore ways to support the hospital and encouraged other corporates to join in serving the community.
