PRESIDENT HICHILEMA GRACES 2025 ANTI-CORRUPTION DAY
The Public Service Pensions Fund (PSPF) on 9th December 2025 joined the Global Community in commemorating the 2025 International Anti-Corruption Day under the theme “Uniting with the Youth Against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity,”.
This year’s commemoration, graced by President Hakainde Hichilema in Lusaka, attracted government leaders, civil society, development partners, students, and members of the public, all reaffirming their collective resolve to build a transparent, accountable, and corruption-free nation.
President Hichilema toured the PSPF exhibition stand and expressed satisfaction with the Fund’s ongoing automation initiatives designed to reduce business processing time and enhance service delivery.
In his keynote address, the President urged all Zambians particularly the youth to play an active role in combating corruption emphasizing that a corruption-free Zambia stands to benefit every citizen and accelerate national development.
The President described young people as “great partners in the fight against corruption” who must refuse to engage in or tolerate corrupt practices that deprive them of opportunities and hinder national progress.
United Nations Resident Coordinator for Zambia, Ms. Beatrice M. Mutali, reaffirmed the UN’s commitment to supporting Zambia’s efforts to strengthen governance and eliminate corruption.
And ACC Director General, Mrs. Daphne Chabu called for continued unity among stakeholders, stating that safeguarding the nation’s future requires strong institutions, robust systems and a shared commitment to integrity.
Meanwhile, Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) President, Ms. Priscilla Chansa said that while corruption affects everyone, young people and marginalized communities bear the greatest burden.
Youth
representative Brian Mung’andu appealed for inclusion of young people in
anti-corruption programmes and policy-making spaces saying that the aspirations
of Zambia’s youth must shape the country’s integrity-driven future.
